French GP

16 stone 6 pounds. Pretty good. If I mantain my weight while away I'll still be on course.

See you after Metallica.

The next two weigh-ins

So, I'm off tenting in Cornwallceistershire all next week so I'm going to do a weigh in tomorrow for the French GP and another on Monday 9th July for the British GP.

It's been an up and down couple of weeks. First week was a bit hit and miss. I don't think I did amazingly well. The last night snacks seemed to sneak in. This week however has been pretty good. Because I'm going away I haven't bothered to go shopping and am having a bit of a freezer week and I haven't snacked at all. I'm guessing I'll hit the 16 stone 7 pounds target and hopefully maitain a gap. I'm not sure if it will be the 2 pounds lead from the USA GP but I have a positive feeling.

The next week will be interesting though. I have a feeling that I won't be snacking that much and while I won't be strictly dieting, I'll certainly be more mindful than usual of what I'm eating. The target is a 1 pound loss and I'll be happy if I maintain.

One other thing. I have the Metallica gig at Wembley at the end of next week and anyone who knows mosh pits and going down the front at metal gigs know the sort intense workout it is so I'll probably sweat a couple of stone off there... and yes... I'm old enough to know better ;)

Indianapolis GP

Lewis won again in a pretty average race (especially after Canada) and I weighed in at 16st 9lbs. Two pounds ahead of where I thought I would be. It's going pretty well I think. The way I see it, my current eating regime would be perfect for maintaining once I'm at a lower weight as I'm not really trying yet. Good thing is I still have a "Diet Nazi" mode to fall back on if things start falling off the rails. That'll be the proper psychoness then...

I have to hit 16st 7lbs in two weeks for the French GP although I'm looking to hit 16st 5lbs to keep the pressure on. 14st 9lbs is still the target though and I'm not changing that.

If I hit target early then that's a bonus and if I'm still over at the end of the season I'm not stopping trying. That much I HAVE to set out now. I'm worried about a mind set I remember getting the last time I tried to lose weight which was "I haven't hit the target I wanted so I best to stop trying really."

Eggs of Doom

I thought I would analyse one of the meals I like that I suspect is too high in fat and energy for a weight loss plan. It's a breakfast type meal and it is as follows:

2 slices of bread, 180 kCal, 1.8g of fat (0.4g Saturated)
Flora light, 40 kCal, 3.8g (0.9g)
3 scrambled eggs, 270 kCal, 20.0g (6.0g)
10 sprays of Fry Light, 10 kCal, 1.0g (Trace)
Half a tin of Beans, 150 kCal, 0.4g (Trace)
3 grilled turkey rashers, 75 kCal, 1.2g (0.3g)

TOTALS
725 kCalories
28.2 grammes of fat
(7.6 grammes of saturated fat)

As a general rule I try to restrict the calories of any meal to around 500 so this was a bit of a surprise! That's a lot more than I was expecting...

If I cut out one egg and one slice of bread, I end up with 550 calories and 20 grammes of fat. That's closer and I think I can get away with that for a meal.

I could also poach a single egg. I always found that poached eggs seems to be bigger than the scrambled equivalent... yeah, possibly bonkers but it works in my brain. That takes it to 455 kCal and 13g of fat. Getting there I think.

The eggs surprised me. I never realised they were so much!

Montreal GP

Go Lewis! His maiden win. Not bad! Still waiting for the backlash. It'll come soon...

Bit of confusion with my weight. I weighed myself at 10am this monring and it was 16st 10 lbs! Well ahead! I weighed myself a few minutes ago and it was 17 st 0 lbs... What IS going on???!? Still, I'm going to take the average which will put me at 16 st 12 lbs which is dead on target. It's still rather odd and I have no explanation...

UPDATE: It's 11pm on 11 June and I've weighed myself again just now. All I did was take off my shoes and I've eaten a stir fry with vast VAST quantities of vegetables so I'm about as full as I could be and I'm 16 st 11 lbs.

Stumbling Block (more of a pebble...)

So, I need to identify this and tackle it before it properly sabotages anything. I really need to watch the snacks when I get in from work and just before bed.

Getting in from work snack seems to be an actual proper habit that needs breaking. I did smoking so I can do this.

The just before bed seems to occur if it gets to the time when I really should be hitting the sack but I'm not tired. So I have a sneaky snack.

Thing is I've already cut out most of the snacking, especially at work.

I do it automatically and I'm usually halfway through preparing it before I catch myself and think... and I hate chucking food...

It's never anything too evil. I think the worst culprit is the marmite on toast. I also have crisp bread and soft cheese. Maybe a couple of pots of yoghurt. Perhaps some fruit.

So you see it's nothing uber evil, I just need to control it a bit more.

I'm going to try getting dinner as soon as I can after I get in and perhaps have a couple of healthy type nibbles later on.

Monaco GP

So without really trying I'm at 17 stone 2 pounds. This bodes well for the next race. All I have been doing is not snacking and cutting out obviously evil stuff like deep fried Scottish Mars bars and lard burgers.

Next stop Montreal.

F1 Challenge

So, here is my bizarre vehicle to successful weight loss... I give you THE FORMULA ONE CHALLENGE. It was going to be the AFC Wimbledon challenge but by the time they chuffing go up I'd be 5 stone.

Here's the thing. I will reach my first target weight by the end of the Formula One season. The last Grand Prix is the Brazilian GP at São Paulo on the 21st October. So that gives me about 21 weeks to do my thing. I hope to lose weight at between 1 and 2 pounds a week so my target is to be 14 stone 10 pounds when they cross the line in Brazil.

I've been more careful about what I've been eating since resuming this blog so the first official weigh in on sunday should be interesting. Even if it's not 100% positive, I tend to lose bonkers amounts of weight in the first week of really watching what I eat. The Canadian GP will be the first one to watch for me.

These are the guidelines for where I should be each race:

Spanish GP , 13/05/07 - 17 stone 5 pounds
Monaco GP , 27/05/07 - 17 stone 2 pounds
Canadian GP , 10/06/07 - 16 stone 12 pounds
United States GP , 17/06/07 - 16 stone 11 pounds
French GP , 01/07/07 - 16 stone 7 pounds
British GP , 08/07/07 - 16 stone 6 pounds
European GP , 22/07/07 - 16 stone 2 pounds
Hungarian GP , 05/08/07 - 15 stone 13 pounds
Turkish GP , 26/08/07 - 15 stone 8 pounds
Italian GP , 09/09/07 - 15 stone 5 pounds
Belgian GP , 16/09/07 - 15 stone 3 pounds
Japanese GP , 30/09/07 - 15 stone
Chinese GP , 07/10/07 - 14 stone 12 pounds
Brazilian GP , 21/10/07 - 14 stone 9 pounds

See you at the finish line in São Paulo.

Psychoness

PSYCHONESS

A word someone said to me today on messenger to describe my weightloss. I'm grabbing hold of that and using it. Possibly scary but hopefully it'll work.

Sneaky Nosh

Well, I haven't done TOO badly. No mega binges. I think the worst was sneaky marmite on toast yesterday but then all I had for dinner was a bacon sarnie to use up some bacon just about to go out of date.

The worst thing about all this is the way my clothes fell. Trousers are way too tight and I refuse to buy the next size up cos they will be biggest size I've ever bought.

I think I get bored with what I'm eating which is why I go off the rails. I have to come up with ways around it. I may have to research some recipes although I'm rather impatient when it comes to cooking which makes be a bad chef...
